DIE DEUTSCHEN AND THEIR HEAVY UNDERGROUND SZENE

If someone asked you about the German Heavy Underground and the bands that play in the scene, perhaps there are a few who would say, "Hey, I know there is this band Kadavar." Germany has become known for stoner, psychedelic, and krautrock, but you might not be as quick to recognize it as one of the progenitors of the doom metal sound in the new millennium, with bands like Versus, Spancer, Mirror Of Deception, and Naevus.

One of the most memorable years for German Doom was the year 2003, when the legendary Doom Shall RIse Festival was launched in Crailsheim. This two-day festival shot like a hell rocket skyward. But I do not want to bore you with the past, as the present is close to my heart. Germany has a lot of damned good bands that will surely enchant the interested ears of listeners behind the border or even break them up in shatter and ashes.

All the more, I was glad and honored that I was allowed to promote the great bands of my homeland, in the name of Doomed & Stoned! I hope we can surprise and astonish you with this compilation and offer you a variety of bands that may have been unknown to you and from now on become your faithful companions in Doom.

Let me conclude by saying a few words about us Germans and our "typical doom sound." We are a very nature-loving people. We love our forests and lakes, the Alps (which form a natural border in the south), and the Baltic Sea and North Sea in the Nordic lowlands. In between, there are many vibrant cities and sleepy, small places. We Germans are in our hearts more conventional, down to earth, and faithful. We like the familiar, but are also very creative and open to new things. Come and drink a beer with us, calmly, and you may find the friend of your life.

These characteristic features are also reflected in our sound! German doom is more traditional. down to earth, direct, and unfussy, with a penchant for cool death metal and snotty punk, but just as varied, independent, and sometimes playful in the realm of psychedelic space.

... and now, let us calm down, have a beer, and and let our ears fly through the world of German Doom!
