Michael Henaghan An absolutely mammoth 75-track collection focusing on the Doom, Hard Rock, Psych and Stoner sounds of Portland. Released in 2014, some of the acts featured have since emerged from this scene and into global infamy (Red Fang, Lord Dying, Witch Mountain
etc). It's available as NYP, but given the breadth of this compliation, it's worth a few coins at least. An untapped resource of heavy rock with plenty of new bands to discover. Special mention to SLOTHS cover of Slint's 'Breadcrumb Trail'

Bucky Dont let the size of this comp album intimidate you. I thought I'd heard it all and this disproves that foolish theory. Perhaps the best heavy compilation on all of bandcamp! So many unheard bands that absolutely rip. Blown away! Great introduction to what Portland heavy music has to offer. Great job Billy!! Favorite track: Altars Before The Unseen.

In celebration of the one year anniversary of Doomed & Stoned (www.doomedandstoned.com), we present to you a collection of bands that have wrapped their tentacles around the Portland underground metal scene and are hungry to scale new mountains.

Portland, Oregon is known for many things--it's the "Rose City," clustered around the mighty Willamette River and nearby Mt. Hood, the home of Nike and the Trail Blazers, even a major network television show called Portlandia. But to the hard working locals, Portland is home to the two big things that really matter: brews and bad-ass rock 'n' roll. Doomed & Stoned in Portland is a snapshot of the heavy music scene right now in Portland -- from the ever-popular Red Fang, Lord Dying, and Toxic Holocaust, to rising stars such as Sons of Huns, Ape Machine, and Drunk Dad. Most of all, here is a collection of bands with a strong DIY ethic, everything from experimental metal and a distinct brand of Northwest punk to ultra-heavy metal doom giants like Graves at Sea, Usnea, and Stoneburner -- not to mention those bands that just like to "Keep Portland Weird" (Blackwitch Pudding, Pinkzilla, Big Black Cloud, Steelhymen, and Zirakzigil, to name a few). Seventy big bands waiting for you to lend them your ears (including several exclusive premieres!) and a free download, to boot! You may just discover your next favorite band.
